Fedhealth, answer these questions!!
<p>Could somebody at Fedhealth kindly explain to me how I am benefiting by having to purchase my chronic medication from Dischem? This is extremely inconvenient and costly for me. I must now drive to Dischem and pay for parking! I take exception to being instructed to do so. I also take exception to being penalised by a 40% surcharge being levied if I don't obey! My corner pharmacy charges the “Scheme Rate Amount” but I still am punished with an unfair levy!</p> <p>Fedhealth, why are you doing this to your members? What possible savings are there for our Scheme? My pharmacist assures me that he will match Dischem’s prices. Does Dischem charge less than the Scheme Rate? If so, my pharmacist will do likewise!</p>

Whilst Fedhealth appreciates the services being offered by independent pharmacies and value the important role they play in delivering quality healthcare, a very important consideration is ensuring that our Scheme remains sustainable and affordable, while still ensuring that services are accessible and efficient . As a former Chairman of the Fedhealth Board of Trustees we have no doubt that you appreciate that part of managing this, is putting DSP arrangements in place where much lower dispensing fees are negotiated. This is to the benefit of all our members by making benefits last longer and in the long run contributes towards scheme sustainability and lower contribution increases. We are however considering different models for 2018 to find a better balance between benefit design that considers scheme sustainability and member convenience.
