Fedhealth a huge dissapointment
As a Sanlam member of staff the administrator of our medical aid is Fedhealth for more or less 6 years. During August 2022 I was diagnosed with Leukemia and Renal cancer. After 2 years of treatment for both cancers I requested to change my medical scheme option to an option which will cost less, but still covers the treatment as prescribed by my doctors. This request was made in writing. An agent phoned me and completed the necessary documents. When I realised that my request to have an plan which covered my treatment was not adhered to as I was moved to a plan which have R499 000 cover, but which would not cover my prescribed treatment (which I need badly to stay alive) On 7th of April I sent an Email with all the details of my request for a less expensive plan (which Fedhealth have) and still have full cover. Up until today, Fedhealth either ignored my plight and the fact that I was placed back on the plan which I was on prior to my diagnosis, or when I querie this, I get no response. It's been more than 2 months. I've spoken to numerous consultants (general and those from Oncology dept) Each of them agrees that my request was not adhered to. This did not help me one bit. Fedhealth would not in the least agree to help me. One of the consultants even suggested that I request an upgrade to a plan which cost less than the R 14000 which I was on, but will still cover everything I need. I requested exactly that, but was denied in spite of the fact that the misunderstanding was not from my side. I am very disappointed in the way Fedhealth handled this case in spite of the R499 000 Oncology benefit on both my previous plan as well as this plan which I was moved to by an over eager tele consultant.
