False advertising

My wife was admitted to hospital with suspected meningitis. At admissions I had to pay in a co-payment of R13000. Besides other subsequent co-payments for various procedures. Lucky I had R13000 or she would probably be dead right now.

The really annoying thing is that for the last hour I have searched through the Fedhealth web site looking for the mere mention of the word co-payment anywhere and I cannot find it. No where. Nor does it mention the amount R13000 anywhere. I have searched through all my emails and all my documentation I have I cannot find any information on co-payments. This is false advertising putting peoples lives at risk by providing in-adequate information allowing them to make uninformed decisions. Try call someone at Fedhealth to ask about this. No chance. I am NOT happy.

So after a week of asking I have managed to receive instructions on how to download and access the policy detail where it does in fact clearly stipulate the hospital co-payment amount. If you go to their website the policy details are accessed by clicking a link at the very bottom of the website normally reserved for disclaimer links, copyright and ad-hoc contact detail. The part of the website no one ever looks at. This information is not shown anywhere where one would expect it to be. As in client downloads once you have logged in or a link that is clearly and openly visible. To me it seems Fedhealth have clearly gone out of their way to ensure no one actually gets to read the actual policy detail. Because if they did it would probably scare them off. Now if you were using a mobile phone you would never see that link. In fact when booking my wife in at the hospital I used my mobile phone. I was unable to tell the hospital what medical plan we were on because it simply was not available on the mobile version. The hospital had to phone Fedhealth in order to determine this information. So Fedhealth if you think I am yet another happy customer think again. This was an extremely frustrating experience. One that I am determined never to experience again. One that I will ensure will never happen again.
