Ex Gratia Declined
If i could Fedhealth a negative score I would. My mother has been a member of Fedhealth Medical Aid for the past 25 years without any major medical incidents. In. 2023 she needed 2 back operations and is now sitting with an approx bill of R60 000 that she needs to pay the hospital as Fedhealth refuses to pay for these expenses. She app**** for an ex gratia and was denied. Now as a loyal member I disgusted that the ex gratia was declined. Please as a matter of urgency can the ex gratia application be reviewed. The Ex-Gratia request is the last available resort for the member to appeal a funding decision to the scheme by requesting additional funds to be made available.
The appeal for Ex-Gratia funding has been declined by the Ex-Gratia Committee.
Any further complaints must be directed to The Council of Medical Schemes.

The Ex-Gratia application itself is the final appeal submitted to the scheme to make additional funds available to fund costly treatment they are unable to afford or due to insufficient benefits being available on their current option.
An Ex-Gratia application is the last resort to request funding after all other scheme protocols and appeals processes have been exhausted with no favorable outcomes.
The scheme does not have an appeal process to follow after the Ex-Gratia process has been followed.
Any grievances the member may have about the scheme’s final decision to decline funding must be referred to the mediator, The Council of Medical Schemes, for further consideration and review.
