Disgraceful. Inhuman. Avoid at all costs.
I am writing this review on behalf of my family, specifically my father, who is currently battling cancer. Fed Health has refused to cover the cost of his scans — scans that are needed to determine whether his cancer has spread. Let that sink in. A medical aid that refuses to pay for a cancer patient’s diagnostic scans. The reason they gave? My father forgot to tick a box indicating that he is on chronic medication. That’s it. One administrative oversight — not *****, not dishonesty, not a breach of contract — just a missed tick on a form. And on that basis alone, they have chosen to deny a sick, elderly man the medical care he desperately needs. This is not just incompetence. This is cruelty dressed up in corporate language. Fed Health collects premiums every single month from hardworking people who trust that when the worst happens — when they are faced with a serious illness or an unforeseen medical emergency — they will be covered. That is the entire purpose of medical aid. That is the promise. And when the moment came for Fed Health to honour that promise, they hid behind a technicality to protect their bottom line. A company with a 1-star rating on Hello Peter, and one that can barely manage a single response to the hundreds of complaints on their page, says everything you need to know about how little they value their clients. They are not interested in your wellbeing. They are not interested in your family. They are interested in your monthly debit order — and nothing else. To anyone considering Fed Health as your medical aid provider: please read the reviews. Look at the rating. And ask yourself whether you are willing to gamble your health — or the health of someone you love — on a company that will find any excuse not to pay when you need them most. Fed Health, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
