Disappointing Experience with Postpartum Benefit on flexiFED 2 GRID

I’m extremely disappointed with how Fedhealth has handled my postnatal consultation claim.

I attended a postpartum check-up 8 weeks after delivery, as per my doctor’s clinical advice. Fedhealth has refused to pay for this consultation, even though it is supposed to be covered as part of the maternity benefit under flexiFED 2.

What’s also frustrating is the inconsistent and unclear communication:

On WhatsApp, I was told that the claim was rejected due to incorrect ICD-10 codes. However, my doctor has confirmed that the correct codes were used.

When I followed up via email, I was told the consultation was outside a 6-week postnatal window. But nowhere in the Fedhealth documentation, brochures, or benefit guides does it state that postnatal consultations must take place within 6 weeks.

As a member, I expect transparency and consistency—especially around something as important as maternal health. If there is a strict 6-week cut-off, this should be clearly communicated in the benefit documents, not hidden in internal policies or only revealed after a claim is rejected.

I followed my doctor's medical advice, used the plan in good faith, and feel extremely let down and are actively looking for a Medical Aid replacement.
