Beyond Disgruntled

I have been a member of Fedhealth for over 20 years - in fact before I retired as an HR Manager I was instrumental in selecting Fedhealth as the Medical Aid Scheme for the Organization. It is with absolute dismay and disgust that I am forced to write this about their new Flexifed Options and Medivault /Wallet debacle . Is the Principal Officer even aware of the dissatisfaction of the members and the contradictory information and misinformation given out by the Call Centre.

As a pensioner, I opted for the Flexifed 3 at approx R50k for 2 members. After numerous calls to the call centre for explanations on the Medivault Scheme , I was led to believe that this would be like a 12 month interest free loan which I could use to pay for all my out of pocket medical expenses. I duly agreed to have an additional R7200 but aside into the scheme for this and an additional stop order for R600 per month was effected .

Much to my dismay and contrary to all assurances given to me by Fedhealth, my claims for an in hospital co-payment was denied and as were non generic payment forchronic medicines That I was out of pocket for.

But the cherry on the top was after I spent an entire morning on the phone to the call center confirming that The Medivault money I had contributed could be used to get my new spectacles, this was also rejected as it was”not in line with the option I had selected “

I then requested that my stop order for this additional money be terminated as I could note possibly afford an additional R7200 as well as my monthly contribution and then still have to pay my out of pocket medical expenses. After much debate with the call centre workers and supervisors I was informed that I had signed consent for this and had only a 5 day period to opt out.

How could I have known in 5 days that what I had been led to believe from Fedhealth was incorrect when the rejections of my claims only came 20 days later!!!!!
