Authorisation refused for life threatening emergency

My Mom had a stroke on the 17 October 2017 and was urgently rushed to Bedford Gardens, we asked Fedhealth if they could authorise the following day as we had paid cash the day before and this extremely expensive, on top of that the were no beds in any of the state hospitals , as my mothers lung had collapsed and she had a major stroke and need a bed in ICU with a ventilator, the Med scheme refused bluntly even after sending a motivation letter yet she had a month and a half left on her waiting period, PMB was never ticked due to her age, which is a different story all together, we eventually found a bed in Ermelo Hospital in Mpumalanga as the costs were increasing daily. We then had to get the ambulance ourselves, pay for that aswell. Fedhealth does not care wether they will bankrupt people, it is not about going the extra mile for the patient anymore, it is strictly a business. I am so disgusted as their underwriters did not even consider it, they refused almost immediately, now i am suppose to keep my mother on this Med Scheme after this response. In top of that she was charged a 75% late joiner penalty. Very dissapointed.
