Appauling delays and service!!! Inhuman treatment!!

Dear Fedhealth Team,

This email serves as my final attempt to get some accountability from Fedhealth before we escalate this matter externally. What Fedhealth is doing — or rather not doing — is utterly disgraceful. You have dragged this “non-disclosure” review into months. This is not only negligent but entirely *********.

Let me remind you of the facts that your team continues to ignore:

I was admitted to Olivedale Hospital after what appeared to be a seizure and was transferred to Garden City Clinic’s High Care Unit for investigation of possible epilepsy — nothing more, nothing less!

During that admission, Dr Waja, my treating neurologist, investigated the cause and recorded ICD-10 code G40.9 — “? Epilepsy” purely because the findings were inconclusive at the time of discharge.

Why were they inconclusive? Because Fedhealth terminated my hospital authorisation and effectively had me removed from High Care, mid-investigation.

Let that sink in: I was kicked out of High Care while still under neurological investigation — because my medical aid decided that saving costs was more important than saving face.

To make matters worse, your representatives tried to force me to sign a “Refusal of Treatment” form — a document that would have conveniently absolved Fedhealth of all responsibility. You knew exactly what that form meant. The only reason I was discharged was because Dr. Waja called me personally while I was still in High Care, urging me to go to a government facility for further investigation, as his hands were tied by Fedhealth’s withdrawal of cover. He was concerned, polite, and professional — the complete opposite of how your organisation has behaved.

So please, explain to me:

Why must I go to a government hospital for ongoing care when I am paying every month for a private medical aid?

You continue to drag feet and send useless emails every other day for your so-called “non-disclosure” review, yet every single document requested has already been sent — multiple times. Dr Talbot has supp**** my medical history from 2017–2024 and has had to endure your team repeatedly requesting the same information he has already submitted. The level of administrative incompetence is both embarrassing and unacceptable.

Let me be very clear:

I did not lie.

I did not conceal any medical history.

I have never been diagnosed with epilepsy.

The “?” in “? Epilepsy” reflects clinical uncer*****y due to Fedhealth’s interference, not dishonesty on my part. To have this used against me now is an outrageous abuse of power and process.

You are happy to take my monthly premiums — without delay or excuse — but when it comes time to uphold your side of the agreement, suddenly everything becomes a drawn-out investigation, misplaced documents, and endless waiting.

This ordeal has caused immense emotional and financial distress. Being cut off from care while in High Care, and then advert emails to Dr for months under the guise of a “review,” is cruel and indefensible. I had to take charge and phone personally, as advised by my broker and Fedhealth, when I call in to follow up!

I demand the following, immediately:

A written explanation of why this case remains unresolved after months.

A detailed account of what further information your underwriters supposedly require.

A formal apology and written acknowledgement of the distress and harm caused by your actions — including the fact that I was removed from High Care during a neurological investigation.

Confirmation of WHEN my non-disclosure review will be finalised without further delay. You now have all the required information.

I will not be silenced or intimidated by bureaucracy. Fedhealth’s conduct in this matter has been deeply ********* and, in my opinion, borders on medical negligence. If this is not resolved SOON, I will be escalating this matter to the Council for Medical Schemes, the Ombudsman, and, if necessary, legal representation.

You cannot play games with people’s health and livelihoods. I am a paying member, not a number.

I expect an immediate written response.

I emailed the documents from both Drs AGAIN this morning.

Reviewer Update
Dear Fedhealth Team,
Good day,
Please advise how far we are with this matter, as I have still not received any proper feedback or resolution.
You now have all the documents that were requested — including submissions from both Dr. Waja and Dr. Talbot.
You have now brought up Dr Hope, whom I saw prior to 2017, for I cannot even remember what life event was happening. PHONE THEM??? Just as I have had to for Fedhealth to do anything!
I noted an email stating that Fedhealth is now requesting additional clinical information from Dr. Waja. May I ask, what exactly is it that you expect him to say?
Are you looking for him to confirm that Fedhealth terminated my hospital stay mid-investigation, effectively kicking me out of High Care before he could reach a final diagnosis? Because that is precisely what happened.
It is entirely unreasonable to demand “further clinical information” from a treating neurologist who was prevented from concluding his investigation due to Fedhealth’s own decision to withdraw authorisation.
Is this concept somehow difficult to understand?
I have been patient, cooperative, and transparent throughout this entire process, yet three months later, I remain in “review” — while paying full premiums for a service that has utterly failed to uphold its responsibility.
I need an immediate and written update on:
  1. The exact status of my case.
  2. What, specifically, is still being requested from Dr. Waja?
  3. When will this review finally be finalised?
Enough is enough. I expect an urgent response within 24 hours. I know that the medical ombudsman is CC’d in on these communications, but please note I am laying an official formal complaint against FedHealth and the misrepresentation I have received, happily putting my life at risk.
