Additional PMB being not covered anymore

<p>My mom passed on in 2002 leaving my dad as the only member on their very expensive hospital plan. My dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2012. Alzheimers Disease was one of the additional chronic conditions on his hospital plan. The medication for his condition was also registered under his chronic conditions, but how it works is that it will only be paid under his chronic from his savings for as long as there is savings available, thereafter it is for his own cost as it is not listed as one of the 25 pmb's. Each year you can change plans up to more or less mid December. Last year AFTER the date passed for us to change anything we received an email stating that his plan (which he had since 2001) was redundant and they chose a comprehensive plan for him, BUT Alzheimers disease was not cover under additional PMB's. My unhappiness with this is that he joined in 2001, paid all of these years, got diagnosed with this serious illness just to get bumped off the scheme/plan when he needs them. How can the scheme just tell me on the phone today, that this disease is not covered with ABSOLUTELY NO EXPLANATION AT ALL!!! THIS IS TOTALLY NOT FAIR TO MY DAD as nothing was discussed with us/explained/warned that the plan is going to get redundant, leaving my dad on his own, paying far more that he had with less benefits!!!!! I am so not going to leave this here. Fedhealth will hear from me for sure!! I want answers.</p>
