Pathetic Service Received by Fastway Couriers
I followed due process by sending two boxes of goods from the Pretoria Branch of Fastway Couriers on Tuesday, 1st June. I weighed the boxes myself at home and the weights were corroborated by the Pretoria Branch. However, I was informed that the standard charge is R160 per box but since my boxes were over their threshold limit of 30Kgs I will have to pay a further R80 per box for what they call “Red Labels”. One box weighed 33.3Kgs and the other weighed 35.7Kgs. I then duly paid R480 in total and was told that my boxes will be delivered the next day, Wednesday. It was not delivered on Wednesday and I received no communication on the progress of the delivery. By Thursday afternoon, my boxes were still not delivered and only after I enquired what the problem was, I was told that my boxes are too heavy to deliver, the exact reason given to me by an employee of the Durban Branch was that no one will be able to carry my boxes and he will liaise with the Supervisor and revert to me. This shocked me to the core because I have pics of the weights when the Pretoria Branch accepted my boxes and the payment, yet the weight of one of the boxes at the Durban branch shows 44.9Kgs. It seems like the boxes got fat while in transit!!!! Come Friday morning and still no communication to me. I then decided to call the Manager of the Branch to enquire what was going on. To add insult to injury, after a few hours I was informed that I will have to pay a further R250 for delivery, and that too I was told this by the Pretoria Branch and not by the Durban Branch Manager that undertook to solve the problem!!! It cost me several Cell Phone Calls and hours of my precious time due to the incompetence of the Fastway Couriers Durban staff. The strange part is that my boxes were eventually delivered late on Friday afternoon, together with an invoice for the additional R250, but I wonder now suddenly how someone was able to carry them!!
