Defective guitar sold as being new

I bought a fts guitar from fastrak Bloemfontein, arcade chambers, shop 39 on 17 March 2026. I could not tune the guitar at home because its string lay flat on the neck of the guitar. The guitar cannot play any note or chord and cannot tune into key. The high E string snapped when I tuned the guitar because the strings are old and guitar has been standing on display. I returned the guitar on 19 March 2026 because I was away on business trip.

The store manager wanted to exchange the guitar after inspecting the defects but there was no similar item and they had no money in the shop. He then called a manager in Johannesburg and sent pictures of the guitar to him. Then he told me that the manager does not respond and I must go back later. When I returned later, the guitar had additional damages that was not there in the morning. He waas now hostile and wanted to send the guitar for repairs and give it to me after three weeks.

I refused and left the guitar there and is going to initiate a consumer protection act case with the department.
