Milky Lane: What You See Is Not What You Get
I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Milky Lane in Alberton, a franchise of Famous Brands.
My family and I ordered several waffles from the menu, expecting products that resembled the images being advertised. What we received was completely different. The waffles were exceptionally small, occupying barely half the size of the serving plate, and were extremely thin compared to the thick, appetizing waffles shown in the menu photographs.
One of the items ordered was a Chocolate Brownie Waffle. The menu image displayed several generous-sized brownie pieces, creating the impression of a rich and indulgent dessert. However, the actual product contained brownie pieces that were less than 1 cm thick and looked nothing like the advertised image. The presentation, portion size, and overall quality fell far below what was marketed.
As customers, we understand that promotional images may vary slightly from the final product. However, the difference in this case was so significant that it felt misleading. Customers are paying premium prices based on the expectation created by the menu images, yet the products delivered do not reasonably match those expectations.
What has made this experience even more frustrating is the lack of response from Famous Brands' head office. I have submitted multiple complaints, including photographic evidence showing the discrepancies between the advertised products and what was served. I have also requested information regarding their escalation process. Despite several emails, my concerns have been ignored and no meaningful response has been provided.
This experience raises serious concerns about false or misleading marketing practices. If a company chooses to advertise products in a certain way, the actual product should closely resemble what is being promoted. Customers deserve transparency, value for money, and responsive customer service when legitimate concerns are raised.
Until this matter is properly addressed, I cannot recommend Milky Lane or the way Famous Brands has handled this complaint.
