REPAIRS UNDER WARRANTY
I have a car rental contract for three years with EZ-Wheels, which started in 2021 February and the car model is the Toyota Starlet band new with the total package inclusive of insurance plus full maintenance. Friday the 25 February on my way to Pampierstad I had a car break down. This started with an funny sound coming from the front probably the engine and I stopped the car immediately to investigate around 09:00pm. During that process I started car attempting to shift gear from neutral to gear 1. I tried three to four times without any luck I decided to call Simone Du Plessis (Insurance Liaison Manager EZ-Wheels) who then gave me the numbers for road assistance. I called the number the lady by name of Brenda answered our call and advised that the guy by the name of Daniel will come assist us. She then forwarded the details and number plates via sms. She the informed me that the car will be towed to the nearest Toyota dealer Oranje Toyota Hartswater and Daniel will drive us to the nearest place of safety which was the closest petrol station as we have arranged to be pick up by one of our relatives. Daniel came through as arranged towed and drove us to the place of safety. on Saturday I called Simone to find out of the way forward, who then sad there is nothing the can do we have to wait for Monday so she can follow-up with the dealer. Monday afternoon I called Simone for an update, at that she asked me where the was towed too and I gave the details. Monday afternoon got a quote with the amount of R11 207.83 from Toyota Hartswater for the repairs. I the forwarded the quote to Simone who advised that she will be in contact with the dealer to find out if the repairs will be under warranty or insurance. She the requested the report that caused the breakdown. The email indicating the cause of report stated that “The claim will not be covered by warranty as it is not caused due to mechanical failure’’ Which I then requested a detailed report because the car was one year old and still under warranty. Detailed report indicating the technicality of the cause of the breakdown was forwarded to be and Simone, who called me indicating that am liable for the repair cost of which I then disputed and said it will be unfair for me to be liable for the repair cost for the car that is still under warranty. She put through my call to her director Mr Paul Du Plessis who then advised me that I need to write an affidavit indicating what had transpired and the breakdown was due to mechanical failure and forward to him and he will take it from there. I am writing this complain to you for assistance with this issue as I feel that Toyota wants to shift the blame to me as a driver of with the breakdown was due to the mechanical reasons and with reasonable drought that this could be to factory Fault. On the other hand EZ-Wheels is distancing themselves from this issue stating that this will be between TOYOTA and me as the driver of the car.
