Experian enabling ******* re-aging of prescribed debt and ignoring formal disputes for months
I am placing Experian South Africa on public record for enabling the ******* re-aging of prescribed debt and for completely ignoring a lawful, properly submitted credit dispute for more than two months.
I lodged a formal dispute with Experian against four adverse listings on my credit profile (two Standard Bank Mastercard accounts and two Nimble Group accounts). These accounts are prescribed in law.
Despite this, Experian has allowed these accounts to remain on my profile with recent status dates, effectively re-aging prescribed debt, which I’m sure is ******** under South African credit law right? How can A credit bureau keep reporting outdated or inaccurate information simply because a supplier says so? Yet that is exactly what is happening here!
It has now been over two months, gosh maybe even 4 months, far exceeding the 20 business days. I have received no outcome, meanwhile, my credit profile continues to be prejudiced by listings that should never have remained in the first place.
Experian’s inaction has left me trapped with prescribed debt on my credit record, debt that is no longer legally enforceable, yet is still being reported as if it were current. This is not a minor administrative delay, it is a serious compliance failure by a registered credit bureau that knows, or ought to know, the law right?
I am now demanding Immediate removal of the ********ly re-aged and prescribed listings in accordance with the National Credit Act and POPIA.
If Experian continues to ignore this matter, I will escalate it further with the NCR, the Information Regulator, and through legal channels. I am posting this publicly because all private and lawful avenues have been exhausted, and Experian’s failure to act has left me with no alternative which has left me emotionally, physically and mentally drained!
