Experian does not do investigation disputes
I logged a dispute for an account I never took up, which appeared on my Experian report on October 10, 2024. I received a reply on November 12, 2024, stating the following:
Good day
The information on credit reports is provided to credit bureaus by credit providers.
We do not have the jurisdiction to intervene in contractual matters between a consumer and a credit provider.
Kindly contact the credit provider for further assistance, alternatively contact the NCR *** Regards
Kind regards, Customer Relations Centre |Consumer Care Consultant
I responded to this email, stating that their reply was unprofessional and undermined the entire purpose of logging a dispute. Following this, I believe they realized their mistake and initiated a new dispute with the credit provider, which now requires an additional 21-day waiting period.
I have made several calls to address this issue, enduring long wait times of up to an hour in their queues. Despite my efforts to explain the situation, my concerns remain unresolved. I am often transferred to a supervisor, only to wait again for their response.
Experian appears to prioritize the information provided by credit providers, some of which is incorrect, while neglecting to thoroughly investigate consumer disputes. When errors occur, they seem to address them by creating new disputes, which causes significant inconvenience to consumers. This approach is frustrating and fails to provide the support and resolution we deserve.
We would like to offer our apologies for the inconvenience caused in this matter.
Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention.
