Exclusive Books

I recently had a disappointing experience at Exclusive Books. My ex-colleagues generously bought me a book voucher as a farewell gift. Since I live in Plettenberg Bay, where there are no Exclusive Books branches, I hadn’t been able to use it. Now that I work in George, I was glad to discover a branch there and went in yesterday to finally redeem the voucher.

To my shock, the cashier informed me that the voucher had expired and could not be used. I was especially taken aback because this was not a promotional gift from the store but money that my colleagues had loaded onto the card. I couldn’t understand how funds paid in good faith could simply “expire.” Unfortunately, I was told there was no way around it and that I would need to pay out of pocket.

This left me disappointed and frustrated. A voucher purchased as a genuine gift should not lose its value just because time has passed. I hope Exclusive Books reconsiders this policy, as it feels unfair to loyal customers and undermines the goodwill of gift-giving.
