Evans Debt Solutions, a **** or a fly-by-night

I got a call from Evans Debt Solutions about the help they can provide to remove my name from debt review, I asked the guy who told them I was on debt review and how did they access my information that is supposed to be confidential and protected in accordance with POPIA? He said it is their marketing data base. I told him I don’t buy that story as one should have my ID number to enable him to even check on my status but again, with my consent too and I don’t remember giving such a consent and as soon as I said, I am asking these questions because I am a member of Parliament and it is important to find out about these practises so that we can be able to look at loopholes in the law and amend it if it doesn’t protect all citizens properly as intended, he then dropped the phone and when I tried calling back, I got a response that says the number doesn’t exist. How do you call from a number that doesn’t exist and seeking my consent to use my confidential information in effecting changes that will affect my life? This requires further investigation and deal with these fly-by-night companies that target ******** people and put them under worse situations than they were before.
