Watch out!
Not even a 1 star. I had travel credits with three airlines due to Covid lockdowns. 1. Refunds: Qatar and Emirates refunded me over a period of a year. Etihad airways has clung to the money, regardless of illness and specific travel bans that apply to me.
2. Customer service: Etihad has also been *********** over the phone (more than 5 consultants) and over email (no less than 5 email addresses). No one has the authority to deal with and complete customer queries, and those who do have the authority don't do their work. People pass the baton and you can't get any real service.
3. Online Booking System: When it comes to booking flights online, their system view and what you as a purchaser can view, differs, and flight bookings are challenging for that reason.
4. Communication of changes: Lastly, they do not communicate changes to existing customers. Flight credits were apparently extended on 1 May, but no communication was sent out and one drags this out of telephone consultants who aren't sure yet either.
5. Flight options: Flights can only be booked 11 months in advance, which is a tremendous limitation. I am not an expert at their route options, but they do seem more limited than other large scale airlines.
6. Price: They are more expensive than most competitors, so it's not like you're buying a cheap ticket and no service.
In conclusion: Before Covid, these would have been good reasons to not use Etihad Airways. In today's times, Etihad will be the last airline that I travel with. Beware of this airline.
