La lucia clinic works hours to suit them not the clients needs. Attitude of the staff is appealing.

I am very disappointed at the service of LA lucia clinic. The staff enjoys sitting around gossiping in their latest personal stories. On Tuesday I was at LA lucia clinic by 3pm and was told that the antenatal clinic sister is gone already. I should come in earlier. The attitude used to tell me this was appalling. I explain that I work from 7-4 everyday so to come here today I did not take my lunch at work so I really tried my best to make it. I was not helped and went home. On Friday the 05/02/21 I had been to our staff doctor and he was not happy with my blood pressure and said I should be monitored and start clinic today as I am already 13 weeks pregnant. So he gave me the rest of the day off and I rushed to the clinic. By 1h30 I was at the screening table. Staff is just sitting not attending to me. So I greet and say why I am here. The lady at the desks tells me Tha antenatal sister is preparing to go. She leaves early everyday because she comes in early. So I ask her times and I am told she comes at 6am and leaves at 2 pm. Mind you its 1h30 so I assume I will be seen but to my amazement I am told to follow this lady to go ask if she will see me. Ayi I follow and that sister does not even bother coming to me. Another sister comes and explains that antenatal clinic starts very early. By 6am she is here and leaves early. So I again explain I work from 7 - 4 everyday. I am an intern so it is hard for me to take a off sick day without bieng short of my clinical hours. So she blatantly says that I have to make an arrangement with my employer and be here at 5am. I find this very disturbing because bieng pregnant is not a debilitating condition that I have to book offsick for every month or twice a month. I thought the whole point of banc and banc + was to ensure antenatal clinic is commenced as soon as possible to prevent any perinatal complications and complications after birth. Already my blood pressure needs to be monitored. I am 13 weeks pregnant and should long started my clinic and tested for the relevant tests and got my prenatal vitamins but I cannot as la lucia clinic staff refuses to do their job. We are told that we have access to services in our local clinics to increase compliance to medication and reduce complications yeey when we access those services we are turned away. This specific sister told me out right that since I work in town. I should go to addington and start my clinic there. Even after explaining my rotations as an intern that I move every 6 months or less to different places, so the only constant I have is home and hence la lucia clinic. She insisted I either book off sick every month to clinic or I use addington because even 12 O clock is late to come to the clinic. I am still shocked. Worse of all they all refused with their names. All were unidentified. So batho Pele is clearly foreign to them. I will be visiting the clinic again this coming week and clearly if I am not seen by a sister I will have to be seen by the in charge. Which I do not even know the name because all of the information to lay a complaint was not given to me. The national guidelines for maternal care say something else but what we find in our local clinics is the total opposite. I still do not understand how you turn away a pregnant woman who is clearly showing signs of needing close monitoring? Worse of all because of my BP scare, I may need to come more often to this clinic then most women in their pregnancy and already I am dreading it.
