Exorbitant water charges

Below is a letter sent to the Ethekwini e services mail address today, 04-04-2017.

It is in regards to our on-going saga with the council and our inflated estimated water bills.

"Good morning,

My previous correspondence on the 17-02-2017 refers.

A water meter was installed at our property, (address omitted) on the 20-02-2017 after months of complaining about our missing meter and high estimated water bills we were receiving.

We have now received another “estimated” bill dated 15-03-2017 for the period, 09-02-2017 to 11-03-2017 for the amount of R 16313.35

The meter was fitted on the 20-02-2017, why is it that we are still receiving estimated billing?

We have a pre-paid meter on the premises and the monthly costs entered into the prepaid meter, are nowhere near the estimated costs you are charging.

I urge the relevant department to take a physical reading and to charge us accordingly, these estimated charges have cost us dearly and I doubt whether the Ethekwini Metro will reimburse us, if irregularities are found in our favour.

I await an urgent response and please don’t mail me stating that my mail has been forwarded to the relevant department, because that’s where all correspondence ends."

As stated above, a new meter was fitted but we are still receiving estimated billing for exorbitant amounts.
