What a (apparently legal) ripoff

<p>I live in Port Elizabeth and went up to Vereeniging this past weekend. A litre of diesel at my favourite Engen service station in PE costs me R11.54. A litre of diesel at the Engen service station in Arcon Park cost R11.70. A fair difference of 16 cents per litre. However, when I calculated my fuel spend and economy rates, I was unfortunate enough to fill up at the Engen 1-Stop in Bloemfontein both going up and coming back home. The cost for a litre of diesel is R12.37. A whopping 83 cents difference from the coast as well as a difference of 67 cents from Gauteng. I contacted Engen today and there Customer Services tell me that this is perfectly acceptable. I have a trip to Cape Town coming up and will certainly avoid the 1-Stops where they seem to feel that they have a monopoly on vehicles on main routes and are quite happy to rip you off.</p>
