The Customer is always wrong with Engen

On 25th May I reported to Engen’s Customer Care that Berg Delta, an Engen station, had inadvertently put diesel into my car’s tank, not petrol as requested. I gave them the details of my inconvenience, not requesting compensation, but hoping that they would investigate to avoid further occurrences of this. The garage, no surprises, denies this transaction. Rude and dismissive mails from Philani Sithebe, their Retail Sales Operations Manager, firstly imply that I am lying and secondly promise that they will investigate. To date, one month down the line, despite my requests to Philani, no one from management has been in contact with me, and nothing at all has been done to investigate the said garage and to rectify this matter.

Engen regrets your bad experience.

As a company we pride ourselves in placing our customers at the heart of our business. We take pride in the quality of our service and take extreme care to ensure as close to an unblemished record in that regard as possible.

Engen management has been in touch with you and rejects the suggestion that the manager who handled the query acted in a rude or dismissive manner.

We have looked into the matter and are unable to find any record of your transaction at the service station in question on the date and time you mention. Unfortunately, until we are able to validate the transaction we are unable to investigate the matter further.

As said previously, Engen regrets your bad experience
