Rude and ********* Behavior by Owner and Attendant at Engen Alberton

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the unacceptable service and unprofessional conduct I experienced at Engen Garage in Alberton (New Redruth).

During my visit, I requested a specific amount of petrol to be put into my car. However, the petrol attendant dispensed more than the amount I had clearly requested. When I questioned this and asked to speak to the manager, the matter was escalated to the owner.

Instead of addressing the issue professionally, the owner was extremely rude and dismissive. He refused to hear my side of the story and went as far as threatening that he could have me arrested, without explaining what I had supposedly done wrong. He also falsely accused me of having done this before, which is both untrue and deeply insulting.

Both the petrol attendant and the owner acted in a highly unprofessional manner. They insisted that I leave behind a personal item as “security” until I returned to pay the additional amount, despite the fact that it was their error, not mine. Shockingly, they went as far as taking my spare wheel when I initially refused to pay for the extra fuel. I was ultimately forced to pay in order to retrieve it.

I am also raising a broader concern: this does not appear to be an isolated incident. On more than one occasion, I have noticed petrol attendants at Engen stations dispensing more fuel than requested and then expecting the customer to pay for it. If this is indeed a recurring practice, it is both highly ********* and unfair to customers.

This matter could easily have been handled with respect and professionalism, but instead I was subjected to threats, false accusations, and a complete disregard for customer service. Holding me responsible for a mistake I did not make is unacceptable, and the behavior I encountered from both the attendant and the owner was completely out of line.
