Rivonia Engen Boycott?

I am really appalled by the “professional manner” I was handled by your management yesterday the 2020.09.14 between 15:30 & 16:30 @ your Engen Rivonia Convenience Centre on 270/381 Rivonia Road in Sandton Johannesburg.

Yes, I had made the error of obtaining the incorrect FNB card from the house that morning & had inserted the incorrect PIN number 3x incorrectly blocking that FNB account. So I did the next best thing, I had transferred the required funds into my eWallet to complete the fuel purchase transaction, just to discover that the FNB ATM stationed at this fuel station will only release R100 and not the additional R40. Due to the account being blocked, and my wife unable to assist me with the additional R10 to obtain my R40 from the eWallet, I was basically left with the last option to plead my case to the fuel stations management.

I explained the situation to the gentleman, and said to him that I can give him the R100 immediately as this is what had come from the eWallet and as soon as I resolve the R40 the next day with either my wife or with the bank I will bring the remainder R40. But be assured I will bring the remainder R40 before close of business the next day. He then replies that R40 is a lot of money, in which I agreed, and he will require assurance that I will return with the outstanding R40. Curiously, I asked, what assurance, he then explains a mobile phone or a laptop, in turn I responded with shocked expression on my face, for R40, that is ridiculous. I then said to him that I will leave my driver’s licence with him, as I am fully aware that if I get pulled over without the licence I am in serious trouble with the traffic department, he said to me that I need the license to drive, I agreed but I require my mobile phone for work, and if I don’t answer my phone, I will have issues with my employer, and being the only current bread winner in the household, is a far more riskier transaction. He denied this and was determined to obtain my mobile phone as assurance. I explained to him too that if I were dishonest, I would have just left the R100 and drove away, in which I didn’t, instead I came to you for a few hours of grace and explained the situation, he then responded again explaining that R40 is a lot of money, it is not his problem and either a mobile phone or a laptop will be accepted as assurance.

I had eventually contacted my brother, in which I didn’t want to do, to assist with the additional funds so that I may be on my way, after paying the outstanding transaction to the teller I turned to the gentlemen I said that this is un-ethical & extremely unreasonable and you will probably never have business from me again, in which he responded, it’s not a problem as there are many more customers than just you
