Poor public relations
My daughter's car broke down on Beyers Naude road this morning, at 08:00. A kind soul towed her to the nearby Engen garage as he did not feel it was safe for her to remain in the emergency lane on Beyers Naude, in traffic. The owner of the garage approached her after she had been there for a couple of minutes asking her to move her car. She explained that her car would not start, but if someone assisted her, they could push the car out of the way. He just walked away. We arrived to assist and were in process of hitching the car when a truck had to use the lane we were in, we moved, as requested. I was not allowed to move the vehicle into a position were we could hitch it, as I was in the way of an employee and a delivery vehicle, Again no assistance was offered. The car was in their way (which it was not) and had to be moved. We couldn't hitch the car in order to tow it and got a recovery vehicle in, who was 7 minutes away. Again we were told to push the car into a parking space, where it would have been impossible for the flatbed to load the vehicle. The recovery vehicle arrived on time and by the time we left neither the delivery vehicle, nor the employee who we were blocking had arrived. Interesting that the cars that parked behind the broken down vehicle, to use the ATM, were not told they were in the way. It is very sad that a garage is not a safe place were a young woman can pull off when her vehicle breaks down.
