Paying for fuel that was not filled into my car
Good evening.
To whom it may concern, I am writing with great grief that I had to experience being ****** of petrol on two occasions at the engen garages in Meyerton. I am driving a Renault Clio which is very fuel efficient and has not given me any gas problems before nor does it have and gas tank problems with it. It is worrisome enough that the gas price has hit sky rocket but paying for a product that I did not receive its another.
The first occurrence was at Engen garage Meyerton Model complex, on February 6th, 2022, Sunday. I had one bar on my gage when I filled up with an amount of R100 and after the fill up service I realise that my gage did not move one bit. Despite the petrol price hikes, my car gives me a bar for at least 4.5 litres of fuel for that amount. I made the petrol attendant aware and that I would come back if I do get home and it's on empty. He gave me slips as I had requested and I left. On that day I drove straight home which is approximately 2km away from the aforementioned fuel station. I parked my car for the rest of that day and the following Monday after that. However, on Tuesday 7th February the gage was on light and on an empty tank. I went back to the garage and made the manager aware of this and he apologized as he could not understand how that could have happened but assured me that his petrol attendants are competent and would not rob me off of gas like so. He further, wanted to demonstrate how the service works and wanted to pour the fuel in a 5litre bottle because then he can trow it back as he would not be liable for a lost 5liter of fuel on stock control. I insisted that he does the demonstration be done on my car as I was rushing to work and I payed for that 5liter of fuel again. My only mistake was not going back on that same day. Dissatisfied and disappointed, I let it go but never went back to that garage ever since.
Second incident happened today, Wednesday 6th April, 2022 at 6:30pm at Engen Meyer Road in Meyerton. I have been a very regular customer at this garage for many years and the attendants all know me there. However, for the first time. I had filled up with R250 for 11.5 litres of fuel which was supposed to increase my gage with about 2 to 3 bars and this did not happen. I made the attendant aware and he assured me that the gage will go up as I drive and if it doesn't I should go back tomorrow to speak with the manager. He also made the same statement as with the other garage that "it is with mostly female drivers that experience the same thing". I am starting to think that female drivers are taken advantage of and their system is licked somehow. My gage is still on one bar and has not moved up.
It is with my regret to have to complain but now I feel like this is one too many times, I do not and will not accept paying for a product that I do not have. Going there tomorrow is time consuming and emotionally stressful, which would have been unnecessary if they were reliable. Times are tough for us all and paying for nothing is like an unwilling donation. Engen garages are convinient to me as they are both very close to my home, but now I will have to use other competitive service stations with the hope that I will be treated as a customer and not a young black female.
