Owner Nishal cannot pay up contamination from wrong fuel filled.
When Filling fuel & shopping at Engen Garage Umhlatuzana - Durban, always ask yourself, do you want inconvience in your life.
After asking the attendant to fill Diesel, they fill petrol. I drive a few Km’s and the car switched off. Went back to the garage , but was greeted by unhappy, non compliant staff. They contacted the owner whos name is Nishal via telephone and Nishal was and is a very unpleasant being to deal with. They were still establishing whos at fault. I merely knocked and opened the office door after multiple knocks were ignored, and proceeded to ask if I should rather leave my details and you guys can call me with a solution as they have wasted 30 minutes of my time so far, they still have time for a staff meeting at my expense. Bare in mind, this is a boiling hot day and ive walked back to the garage. Nishal should be more concerned about sorting my vehicle out and leaving his little staff meeting for a later stage, cameras and slips prove the incorrect fuel was filled. Is anymore investigating required? I would think not.
Nishal then reminds me that I need to keep my mouth shut while in his establishment and he will tell me how it works. I then reminded Nishal that I wont be spoken to like that and he can take his demeanor and shove it. I then walked out the establishment as I refuse to be spoken to like a piece of dirt when I can rain hell on his business.
I left the garage and contacted Engen head office, who put me through to the area manager who was then able to get the ball rolling with Nishal. It seems Mr Nishal has big blue ***** when it suits him. After getting greased by superiors, he then authorises the vehicle to be sorted by the dealer, as per email and screenshots attached.
Now that the vehicle is there, Mr Nishal additionally asks for a 10% discount for a cash payment. Knowing full well, he is not obligated to such, even for a cash payment at VW. I then call my good friends at VW and arranged a 10% discount for him. Since Monday the 18th at 9am, this invoice from VW was forwarded to the garage and Nishal. No payment has been made to VW and my vehicle sits at VW and cannot be released without payment. Mr Nishals spiteful ways and ******* tone of talking may get his face re-arranged by the wrong people.
I urge anyone using this Engen garage to stay away, the owner is a nasty piece of work. We don’t need anymore people like this in our Country. Engen garage as a group and franchise should help Mr Nishal financially to pay up this invoice. It can only mean Mr Nishal has no funds available to pay up as more than sufficient time was provided.
Mr Nishal has a vulgar mouth and needs to be washed with chillies, someone may wash it for him one day. I still would like the opportunity to meet with Mr Nishal to see how a big mouth carries on in person. A meetup with Nishal is being arranged where I will have a chance to confront him face to face regarding this matter and the mouth he had on the phone with me. At the end of the day, your establishment made a mistake, your duty is to keep quiet and apologise, the customer is right this time, so rightfully, your tail should be between your legs, listening and taking notes like a good boy. You do not tell a customer to shut up and listen to you when you employ workers of the street to fill fuel in customers vehicles.
According to 3 staff members I met with privately over the weekend, they confirm mr Nishal is abusive in the workplace throwing vulgar words at employees when there is a mistake. The staff are unable to speak to their boss, I thankfully am no staff.. I will have Mr Nishal longing for this matter to go away.
I appeal to nishals family and friends to please come through and assist the man in sorting out his priorities and debts. Nishal seems to have inherited this garage from his father, a elderly chap who is quite the opposite of Nishal. Nishal is in no position to handle customer queries or to oversee that garage. Nishals family also own the bottle store next to crazy 8 in malvern. So im finding it hard to believe Mr Nishal has financial issues. Whilst he certainly has operational issues and has a lot to learn from his father, still. Please do not support this garage, today its me, tomorrow it is you. Stay clear of this establishment and its owner.

After asking the attendant to fill diesel, the attendant marked with a trainee shirt, does not have his own tag and then asks for the tag from another employee and then fills petrol in a diesel vehicle whist a went in the garage to buy a beverage.
I then pay for the fuel and head home (100m Away). Within 50m the vehicle switches off and refuses to start, I then go back to the garage after opening my fuel cap and smelling petrol. They then check the footage and keep me waiting up to 30 mins only to speak to its owner, Nishal via a Phone Call. who doesnt know how to speak or to run his garage, his attitude is that its his business, his garage, i should shut my mouth and listen. We end up in a heated arguement and i leave the garage and contact Engen head office, Head office greases Nishal and then i suddenly get approval via email to take the vehicle to its dealer. Vehicle is modified so VW can only assist with the cleanup procedure and no other repair work, the clean up was done. The vehicle was collected with the engine check light on, which indicates engine malfunction.
I have contact Nishal & his garage about this but now they know after the cleanup, the vehicle is showing issues, they know this is a bigger issue and so blame and liability its trying to be passed because i had taken the vehicle to its dealer, which they authorised. The vehicle is a SEAT and as such is owned by VW, therefore servicing & parts can all be done at VW. They say this is not the dealer for this vehicle and so the liability moved to me, even after paying the invoice.
Absolutely horrible experience from this garage and its owner, please stay away from this place. All their pumps contain petrol, even those with diesel logos. they only keep one diesel tank in the front of the garage and nowhere else. If you do not know this garage and maybe park outside a tap, becarful, they may fill water in your car.
The staff are untrained and have little to no experience in the fuel industry and is quite alarming if they know any safety protocols. The owner has no way of speaking and when you have filled incorrect fuel in someones car, you should be apologetic as possible.
We have been trying to get assistance from Engen SA but we need your help in sharing this post and making it known. Engen SA should come to the party as the group owners and make a decision to strip this garage of the Engen title and allow Mr Nishal to rather buy into the Astron garage. Engen SA should have high standards and excellent customer service for something like this.

So far, for 1 week i have been without a vehicle, there was no mention of a vehicle hire, a single phone call from them or a letter or verbal apology for the inconvenience caused.
Please do not use this garage, you will end up in a never ending problem with this garage & its owner sorting out your vehicle.
