Negligent service rendered to my motor vehicle

Dear Sir / Madam, I, Lungile Zondo, ID and contact details available upon request, hereby lodge a formal complaint and claim against Engen Filling Station – Hazeldean, arising from negligent service rendered to my motor vehicle, which directly resulted in engine overheating and associated damage.

Paragraph 3 Services Rendered by Engen Staff While I remained seated inside my vehicle at all times, the attendant: • Checked my tyres • Opened the bonnet/hood • Checked oil and water levels • Informed me that an oil top-up was required • Topped up engine oil (R63.00) • Topped up windscreen washer fluid • Closed the bonnet/hood I additionally purchased fuel to the value of R300.00.

Add Paragraph 4 Subsequent Mechanical Failure Shortly after leaving the service station, while driving on/near Stellenberg Street, the vehicle’s engine overheating warning light activated. I immediately slowed down and stopped at the clubhouse area, in Equestria Estate where I live. The steam was visibly emitting from the bonnet/hood. After allowing the engine to cool, and with assistance from security personnel, I opened the bonnet and observed yellowish fluid splattered across the engine bay. Photographic and video evidence was recorded at the scene.

Add Paragraph 5 Immediate Notification to Engen Hazeldean I contacted the service station immediately and spoke to a supervisor who indicated that he was on night shift. On TrueCaller, his name appears as “Zeke.” I provided a full verbal account of the incident and sent the photos and video evidence to her. She advised that the information would be passed on to the day supervisor.

Add Paragraph 6 Cause of Damage Based on my inspection and the sequence of events, it is evident that the attendant failed to properly secure the relevant cap(s) after topping up oil and/or fluids. This omission resulted in fluid loss, engine overheating, and consequential damage. This constitutes negligent workmanship on the part of the service station staff.

I hereby formally request that all relevant CCTV footage be immediately preserved, including: • The full service interaction • Bonnet opening and closing • Oil and fluid top-up • Vehicle departure Time window: Approximately 17:30–17:50 on the date of the incident. This footage is critical evidence and should not be overwritten or deleted.

1. Accepts liability for the negligent service rendered at Engen Hazeldean; 2. Arranges and covers the full cost of mechanical inspection, diagnosis, and repairs required to restore my vehicle to its prior condition; 3. Provides a written response outlining the claims process, appointed assessor (if any), and expected timelines.

I have sent email to Hazeldean Engen Garage and I have not received any response and it is very frustrating not to get any response from Hazeldean Manager regarding this matter.
