Keep the mousse, and Smile - Engen Quick Shop

Okay so Engen "Guys Service station" in Plumstead, Cape Town, set a complete different but dissapointing image for the Engen franchise.

After selecting the desert items and bevarages I came to purchase, I was welcomed with a dull attitude even though I smiled at the cashiers. Nevertheless, paid for my items and were not even asked for a plastic bag for the goods and didn't bother to ask anyway. On attempt, I collected my items and one tub of desert fell as I tried to take it from the counter. However the cashier then asked her colleague to get me another one to replace it, the colleague rep**** and said "no it's your own fault".

Of cause it is probably my fault, the item only fell when I tried to take it from the counter. Should I have been offered a plastic bag and purchased one it wouldn't have happened. Did I wanted to ask for a plastic bag; No, not after that unwelcoming attitude. It is enough that I still proceed with the initial purchase.

Irrespective, I said to the lady that I did not let the item fall intentionally however it was a mishap. She says "No, it is your fault and I wont replace it for you" Says she is under strict instruction to not replace goods that they did not break.

Wow,here I thought the Consumer Act guides us by stating that only when it's through "gross negligence, recklessness, malicious behavior or ******** conduct" that the customer would be held liable for goods damaged in store and not for slight mishaps when handling a wet product that was stored in the fridge.

This do not make me dislike Engen, but please, the staff could be much better as experienced in other various Engen Shops.

The only reason for the Two stars is pretty much because I was in a good mood when I entered the shop and all engen stores cannot be blamed for one stores unprofessional staff members.
