ENGEN TIBANE Supervisor and Manager (Both Women) are the most INHUMANE, COLD-HEARTED I ever encountered
On the 10th February 2026 at about 18H05, I swiped R400 for 95 Fuel then the swiping machine said duplicate, the petrol attendant then said I should swipe again, and the swiping machine showed the same error message. I then went inside the Engen Tibane and tried to withdraw money from the Standard bank ATM so I can pay cash, only to find out that the 2 payments I swiped actually went through, the balance on my card proved that. The petrol attendant then called the lady who seemingly had just knocked off and was heading home but still around the garage, the lady then came but she was already offish/bored as she was approaching, the petrol attendant then explained what had just happened, the lady then said we should go inside the Engen shop. As we got in, I then asked her what is going to happen as I popped by the Engen Tibane just to top up because I am driving back home to Protea Glen Soweto, the lady then slightly laughed and told me there's nothing they can do because they are also not sure if the 2 payments/transactions went through or not, and that we would have to wait, Imagine. I then asked her what's funny, why is she laughing and she said she is not laughing. I swear that girl didnt even care that it's already after 6pm and that I still had to drive far, she didn't care at all. I was driving back with my 4-year-old son, just the two of us, Instead It was made as if I was lying, didnt have money in my account and i was trying to rob Engen off the R400, the Audacity!
I also explained that since it's now 2 payments that went off and I only topped up with R400, I needed the other R400 that went off the 2nd time I was told to swipe off to pay toll gates. The girl then called her manager, who was worse than this girl whom I'm assuming is a supervisor. This girl explained to the manager what had happened, the manager asked the girl to give me the phone, then I greeted her ''Hello'' and she greeted me back and kept quiet. I then said hello, this stupid manager then said ''Yes, what's the problem'' mind you it's getting late for me as I still have to travel to Protea Glen Soweto, and I flipped! I asked her what do you mean ''what's the problem'' when your colleague just explained everything to you? She also told me I would have to wait as they are not sure if the payment was received on their side. I then asked how is that my problem because I swiped and the error was on their side, either their machine or poor network at their filling station, I then told her they better not accept card payment and take cash only since they have network/swiping machine problem instead of them making customers feel like they were robbing Engen off.
I could not believe that these 2 God forsaken women only thought of R400 and didn't care that the error was not on me but on them, that I was already late, a woman travelling with a 4 year old at that time, under the conditions we are living-in in this country where women are killed, kidnapped and where hijacking and accidents are on a rise, they didn't care that the more they delay me they could be putting my life and my sons life in danger, what a cruel society we are living amongst! A society that is money driven and give zero care for people's lives.
I hate them with all my heart and hope they get to face the wrath of my God and of my ancestors for doing that to me and putting my life at more danger and didn't even care, I hope their children get to pay for these 2 women's cold heartednesses.
I have no family in Limpopo and couldn't sleepover anywhere, my trip was in and out as I had an emergency to attend to.
I left the garage at 7pm, I got home (Protea Glen, Soweto) at 01 am, early hours.
No treating customers fairly (TCF) at all.
