Engen Petrol Attendant Incident

I went to Engen Linton Grange in Port Elizabeth just after 9pm on Sunday 07/03/2021 to throw in R50 Petrol. I told the Petrol attendant, who's name is Irwin, "R50 unleaded" and he mistakingly heard "fill up unleaded". I had bought oil also for my car at the time and asked Irwin for a cloth so I! can check my oil while he was busy throwing in petrol. He then came to help check the needle (at that point I thought he was done throwing in petrol) and I myself threw the oil in. I, then went back to go sit in my car so that I could pay him for the "R50" petrol I requested, that's when I noticed he was still throwing in Petrol as this had my full attention now. I then mentioned to him again, "R50 unleaded" and he started going on with me that I said "fill up unleaded". I was deeply distraught at what he was telling me, he was accusing me of being a ****, telling me he asked me twice when I'M the one that told him R50 unleaded!!! Not only did I not have that sort of money, I am also leaving to Pretoria tomorrow (8/03/2021) for 2 weeks so why the hell would I want to fill up a car that I'm not going to be using for 2 weeks. We have a hired car that we'll be traveling up with and I'll have to throw petrol into that car, so filling up MY car WAS NOT IN MY BUDGET! I then demanded to speak to the manager and he informed me that the manager isn't there and will only be back tomorrow. How on earth can a business be operating without a manager.

Irwin then called a policeman who happened to be at the petrol station also and I explained this problem to him. He however favored sides with the petrol attendant to make it look more like I'm lying about what I said and was told to open a case of theft if I couldnt pay. How can he be telling him that ? when I didn't even ***** ?! When it was really not my fault! Just to get it over and done with, I told them I could pay them on the 20th when I get paid which is why I wanted to speak to the manager yet they insisted that I must leave something valuable there at the petrol station in the meantime, like my phone/keys/drivers license. How could I ? if I need all of that for my trip to Pretoria. How pathetic is that? I'm leaving to Pretoria for 2 weeks tomorrow(8/03/2021). I was asked to borrow money from someone to pay this balance. Where is the customer care and service in this place. The fact that the issue couldn't of been escalated and that I was stuck in the car with my infant child and girlfriend shows that the attendant couldn't care less. I even tried to reason with the guy by saying that what's done is done, can they do an agreement that I can sign in order to pay the money on the 20th of the month when I get paid, whether it's deduction or eft. This attendant clearly wasn't listening to me and started stressing that he couldn't pay this money. But now what about me ? I couldn't pay that money at that moment aswell !!! Regardless of how upset I was that he threw the wrong amount in he couldn't even reason and get to some sort proper decision. He accused me of being a ****, accused me of being a *****er when I've never committed a crime in my life. He went on about being there for 20 years and this never happened. Ive been throwing in petrol for 12 years and this has never happened to me too. Where is the fairness. Where is the manager to make an informed decision. Why was it my fault that he threw the wrong amount in.
