Engen Morningside - incorrect/contaminated fuel
Good day,
On the afternoon of Thursday the 24th of April 2025, I went to Engen Morningside to fill up. I requested a full tank of Unleaded petrol.
I made it 2km’s away and then my car cut out and would not go any further. It was then towed to my home and on the morning of Friday the 25th April 2025, towed to my dealership.
On Friday afternoon, the dealership had advised that there was a strange substance in the tank. They have had the tank removed and drained and are checking for any further damage to the fuel injectors, engine and any other issues.
I immediately called Engen Morningside and requested to speak to a manager, whose name was Rick. I advised him of my issue and he was adamant that the issue could not have been as a result of their fuel. He did not request any details to even try to investigate the matter.
I requested to speak with the owner, to which he responded that he could not divulge the owner’s contact details. I have left a message and to date, have not received any feedback, which leaves me with no other alternative but to make contact with Engen SA.
I have tried to send this mail to both the email on the website and the email on their social media platforms, both of which have been undelivered.
My car is still with Toyota and I have been inconvenienced by not having a car for now almost a week while they investigate.
A sample of the substance in my tank has been taken and I await a report from the dealership when they have completed their work, which I will forward accordingly.
My credit card slip clearly states unleaded so unleaded fuel was requested. I therefore must assume that either diesel or contaminated fuel was put into my tank.
I seek urgent feedback on this matter.
