Engen garage attendant took out my car keys from ignition

I popped into an engine garage Sunday morning , my card was giving me issues so one of my friends I was driving with went to my place to get cash so I could pay for the petrol bill

The petrol attendant said I must park on the side and he will take my car keys , I said I am not going anywhere so there won't be a need , if he believes I will drive away he can take the licence plate number.

Whilst was waiting for the friend that went to pick up money me and the rest of the guys were chilling parked listening to music.... Then the petrol attendant just put in his hands through my car window and snatched the key from my ignition,..... Think this is against my rights as a citizen more so as a customer. I will be seeking legal advice
