Debit card payments

On the 14th February, we poured petrol at the station on our way to JHB. I requested R 300 worth of petrol. An amount of R 300.05 was poured and had to pay. I did not have a problem paying, so I requested that R300 be charged on my debit card and was going to pay the 5 cent coin cash but the petrol attendant refused. He informed me that if I am using a card the whole amount need to be charged so that it clears of on the petrol system. It did not make sense since I was willing to give the 5 cent extra.
