Bad response from Engen Owner and Manageress
From: Anthony Moses ********** Sent: Wednesday, July 18, 2018 8:09 AM To: ********** Subject: Engen;
Good day Mr vanLoggerenberg
The manageress Ms Badroenesa from Engen Panorama called me yesterday morning (17 July) just before 12h00 and asked me to come and see her. When to got there I waited a while they were setting up the replay on the camera, to visually see the happenings on the evening in question. The owner was not present. It is now over 2 weeks since the incident happened. After viewing the film the manageress said to me that the petrol attendant involved does not think that he is responsible, but then he was the one holding the air hose and letting it go, which caused the damage to my car? I think the manageress and the petrol attendant was referring to the fact that while the attendant was putting in petrol I fetched the air hose and started the inflation of the tyres, to speed up the process and help him. The other attendant took over from me and started inserting air into the tyres. He then just released the spring loaded hose which was laying across my bonnet, which was automatically jerked back and damaged my bonnet. I pointed out to the manageress that there was no sign at the station saying that customers could not help themselves to handling the air hoses. I then also asked the petrol attendant that shouted at me that evening, why did he not correct me, by telling me that I am not allowed to operate the air hose? I then told them that it is the owner’s duty to put up a sign to state that only staff may handle equipment and if customers do get involved, it is at their own risk. This does not really apply to my case as the attendant took the hose from me and finished the job. He was the one responsible for the damage. The manageress promised me that they would sort out the incident by yesterday Tuesday evening and get back to me. Tuesday 17th July has now passed and today is friday the 27rd July and still no communication. They are a bad adverti*****t for the ENGEN group.
I told them that I was irritated by their way of no communication eg; No Communication and asking my details again as they did not have it when I gave it to them on the evening of the incident. Please forward this email to John Bailey.
Kind Regards Anthony Moses
Dear ENGEN
Can you please assist me with this incident that happened at one of your Engen Petrol Stations?
On Monday evening 2nd July I went to put in petrol (as usual) at the Engen Petrol Service Station in Uys Krige Avenue in Sonnendal, Parow. While the petrol attendant was adding petrol to my car, I decided to also put air into my tyres. I took the air hose to do it, but another attendant said that he would do it for me. When he had finished with the right front tyre, he let go of the air hose which is spring loaded, and was across my bonnet. In the automatic retraction process, a small dent was made on my bonnet. My car is in immaculate condition and I pride myself on it. I immediately reported the incident to the Manageress, Ms Badroenesa, which she took down my details and came to inspect at my car. She assured me she would report the incident to the owner, Mr Mahomedy. As no one communicated with me the following day, and neither the Wednesday, I personally phoned Mr Mahomdey at 15:30 on Wednesday. He asked me what time the incident happen and I told him approx. 6pm. He put my call through Ms Badroenesa to again take down my details. It is now a week down the line, and I have not heard from anybody yet.
I take great offence to this unprofessional and evasive behavior from a business who I have supported for so many years. This not only reflecting badly on the business itself, but also on the Engen branding. Can you please assist me in getting the owner to take responsibility for the damage done to my car by one of his employees?
