A simple apology would have made a world of difference

After clearly instructing the attendant to put in only R500 diesel due to a fuel leak in the neck of my tank, he filled the tank which (to cut a long story short) would lead to extremely inconvenient consequential damage. An apology would have been good but the attendant (Blacki) blatantly **** by denying I had issued the instruction and then, to compound this, management (a Peter I think) automatically assumed the attendant was correct and could suggest no solution other than to point out (again and again) a small sign on the grass that (typical of fuel stations) stated that anything and everything that goes wrong is not their responsibility. My cardinal sin was that I left my car to by a newspaper and therefore this was all my own fault. A simple admittance and a verbal apology would have gone a long way to appeasing the situation but in the case of Engen the customer is clearly "always wrong." As mere consumers we do little else but to vote with our feet - so goodbye Beacon Bay (and others whenever I can), you will not see me or my business fleet ever again.
