1-stop South Bloemfontein. “We put you last”

29 September 2020, 08:30. Engen 1-stop N1 South in Bloemfontein. After leaving JHB at 4am we got there looking forward to a break from the car and a breakfast at the wimpy. When we got there the restaurant only did takeaways which was very disappointing. I spoke to the wimpy manager on duty and said it didn’t make sense and we really would like to sit down even to eat the take-away meal. She was apologetic and said they had been directed by the Centre management not to do sit down. She fetched the manager and his approach was disgusting. He said no Engens do sit-down. I pointed out we had had breakfast a week ago at Laingsburg Engen. His response firstly was to deny it was an Engen and then “Anyway, we don’t do sit down. I hear your concern, but we don’t serve sit down.” Translation: Jammer om van jou *** te hoor. We ended up sitting outside on the pavement, in a freezing wind, eating as fast as possible so we could get the hell out, because they were not prepared to let us sit at one of their many tables. Engen 1-stop “We put you first”. Travellers go there to have a break from the road. How do you hire a manager who doesn’t understand, nor care to understand that?
