Meters that stop working after 2 years and need to be replaced!!!!

<p>We have a property company which owns and rents out property. In order for us to ease the collection of our municipal services from Tenants we installed prepaid electricity and water meters for all our units as they came highly recommended.</p> <p> </p> <p>The issue has now arisen whereby 2 of the 10 water meters are now nolonger functional due to the batteries which power them having depleted. When we informed prepaid meters they told us that we have to buy a new water meter to replace the meters at a cost of more than R3000.00. </p> <p> </p> <p>When we first bought the meters in 2015 we were told that the meters have a life span of 7 years, its about 2 years into the period since they were purchased and installed and now we are required to replace them due to just the batteries being depleted.</p> <p> </p> <p>Each time we have complained they merely infom us that we need to purchase new meters and would like to quote us for these new water meters. We've spent more than R30k on these water meters and to think we may have to spend another R30k to replace the meters merely because the batteries are nolonger functional considering that they should atleast have a 7 year shelf life in accordance with the warranty or at the very least we should be able to replace them. This is a long term service and we cannot be expected to pay for this every 2 years otherwise it doesnt become financially viable for the user.</p> <p> </p> <p>We providing this company with consistent business in that they charge a management fee for every transaction purchased via our tenants, the service works and we have been happy with the administration thereof but the after product services leaves a lot to be desired.</p> <p> </p>
