EMS couriers via S.A. Post Office sucks

I paid R401 for courier services of a parcel weighing 2.7kg. This was a light weight gown gir a friend having a baby. It was to be delivered at given home address in Nairobi within 5 working days. 19 days later it arrived and is now at customs after which "when cleared the customer can collect it". My friend had the baby and is currently in hospital unable to collect. This service sucks and I will never use EMS again.
