Be Careful!

I was recently contacted by Empire Debt Management and offered a “debt review removal” service for R7,500.

The agent claimed they received my details from the NCR, which already raised concerns.

I explained clearly that I already have a court order confirming my withdrawal from debt review. Under NCR Circular 9, the process has changed — only the original debt counsellor of record can update your status on the NCR system. No third-party company can override this.

Despite this, I was still told they could assist and was given vague assurances instead of a clear, lawful explanation of how they would achieve this.

When I questioned this further and pushed for clarity, the call was abruptly ended on me.

This is extremely unprofessional and concerning behaviour.

Consumers need to be aware:

- If you already have a court order, the only remaining step is updating your NCR status. - This can ONLY be done by your original debt counsellor. - Be cautious of companies charging large fees for services they cannot legally complete.

I strongly advise others to do proper research before paying for these types of services.

My experience was misleading, unprofessional, and handled very poorly.
