WATER BILL BURDEN
Due to lockdown I have temporarily moved in with my daughter living in a complex in Rynfield Benoni and was made aware if her water account ordeal. She has been renting from the Agent for 6 years now and left with a huge water bill account of R12000 due to an underground water pipe leakage on the Erf whereas it was not noticed either by her in time and which the owner and rental agency hold her accountable for not reporting. My question is why did the garden maintenance worker parading daily on the Erf not noticed the wetness or the climb in water bill which is on her name at Ekurhuleni Benoni not letting her now to inspect the problem. Note that she is also paying a monthly water and sewerage amount direct to the rental agent. She thought that there were errors on the Ekurhuleni side and enquired on numerous cases. They all insist that it was her mistake not noticing the faulty under ground leaking pipe. Now she is a single mother working in Midrand never do any gardening because the complex have their own maintenance, how was she to know that water was waisted until it was billed R14000 now at R11000 as she is trying to do repayments. During June she got a letter from the agents that the water supply will be cut if she does not start to pay them as well. She is paying the Rental agent every month? Due to this burden she cannot move anywhere her deposit will be taken and bare in mind the rental has increased as well. Her approximate monthly rental with all inclusive with arrangements is around R14000 a month. She is only a single mother trying to establish a home for her two children and a prompt payer. Who is actually to blame? Kind regards (Concerned Parent)
