Prepaid Electricity meter

Just bought a new house it’s been two weeks and already the electricity meter is not working I’ve been waiting for someone to come out and have a look since yesterday, how am I suppose to live without electricity?? We pay rates and taxes for this kind of poor service this is ridiculous
