Pensioners water bill of R6000 at a township
My grandmothers water meter was leaking in October and it was reported but by the time it was supposedly fixed her bill was over R2000 which is too much for someone relying on pension money for everything. She reported to the office and was told there was nothing they could do as it was her meter that was leaking and she had to pay, old lady has been stressed going in and out of clinic since then but NO it doesn't end there the following month her bill was R6000, when she reported again they just came to check and told her that who ever fixed the problem earlier had left the meter running (broken) and they that they would send someone to get it fixed. She has been waiting since then, been to the offices last week and was told that the person responsible or allocated for the job is not on duty she just needs to be patient till he returns. So I wonder what will happen if that person does not return as he bill now stands above R6000. She has completely closed the meter from outside and has not had running water since December. God knows how much the bill would be had she not done that, Reference number *** was only received 2 weeks ago after I called on her behalf. Please assist.
