Ekurhuleni Metro's annual overestimated electricity bill.

I've been living in Ekurhuleni now for the best part of 13 years. Every year, around September/ October, I receive an inflated electricity account, which I refuse to pay. I do pay what I did use and a little, to stay in the clear.

Every year, we go through the same process - go see the supervisor at the offices, they correct it and all is well, or not. This is now the n'th year in a row that I get disconnection letters, at high additional cost, for not paying the claimed amount.

Is it not a bit convenient that Ekurhuleni makes the same "over estimate" on my (our) electricity account(s) at this time of the year? I send pictures of my meters in like clockwork 20 or 21st of every month, so there is no cause for estimates, except incompetence.

Also, when communicating by email, these gets conveniently answered AFTER the termination notice has been sent.

The rat that I smell is this: Ekurhuleni, probably as ******* and bankrupt as all ANC run municipalities, needs to augment their cash flow for year end and *****s it out of their captive clients.

Three methods are used.: 1) Overcharging Water consumption 2) Overcharging electricity consumption 3) Notices of disconnection.

The way to stay in the clear is to just make the exorbitant, interest free loans to Ekurhuleni and get reversals January, February and sometimes up to March the following year.

Not surprisingly, I am now going completely off-grid - never to have to deal with load shedding nor inflated electricity accounts again. My system will pay for itself in 18 months.

Have other Ekurhuleni residents noticed the trend? Please let's make our voices heard against this kind of abuse.
