We were told by the local newspaper to pick up the new wheelie bins with no mention of any tariff. We then went to pick up our bins only to be told a week later by the newspaper that a tariff of R129. 99 excluding vat would be levied for every bin to be registered to a premises. We were also told there is no charge for the supply of the bin. The only charge is the declared tariff which will be levied monthly. The levy will appear on the residents monthly municipal statement. Does this mean that we have to pay this every month on top of our refuse debit every month? We would like to know why we weren't informed of any tariffs when we picked up the bins? When phoning, no one can couldn't give an answer. The bins only hold 2 to 3 bags at a time. So if we have extra bags what are we supposed to do with it? Bad idea from the Ekurhuleni. The refuse trucks are not picking up the bags on time either and they sit on main roads doing nothing. Furious and frustrated resident. Bin there done that.
