Actonville Housing Settlements
Hi,I live in a government flat called Azalea court in Actonville Benoni.Every year we have a sewerage blockage, and for the past years living here from 1999 we have had our sewerage system sorted out on the same day,as the usage of the toilet is regarded as an emergency. On the 12 August 2020,we encountered our toilets not flushing and water overflowing from the toilet due to the blockage. We were told from Benoni Town Housing Settlements and also from Actonville Municipalities finance department to report a toilet blockage to Housing Settlements in the Actonville Municipality. There is a guy by the name of Maxwell who works at the Actonville Municipality. The problem was reported on Tuesday by the Ward counselor of Actonville,on Wednesday 12 August 2020 I reported the problem to Maxwell and was assured that the contractors will have it sorted out on that Wednesday,no one came out as I was home for that whole day,on Thursday 13 August 2020,my neighbor went to the Housing Settlements in Actonville to log the complain, she was also assured by Maxwell that the problem would be sorted out on that very same day,the ward counselor also kept phoning Maxwell to get the plumbing contractors to come out ASAP but nothing was done on that day .Friday 14 August 2020,we were again assured by Maxwell that the plumbers would come out on that day but no results .Maxwell has come out to Azalea Court to check up on vacant flats and on the domestic General workers .Saturday 15 August 2020 at 10:00am the Contractors for the plumbing came out and they are based in Pretoria, they managed to fix the blockage by a Manhole. For the past 3 days the contractor was told to come to a flat in actonville by Maxwell but wasn't told that it was Azalea Court that had the sewerage blockage,Maxwell has given incorrect information to the contractor.Actonville Municipality Housing Settlements has very poor service delivery especially with an emergency complaint being logged by several people who live in the same area.I only hope that Ekurhuleni Metropolitan addresses this issue and we the tenants receive the service we pay for on our monthly rentals
