Very disappointing resolution to dispute

I purchased a Series 3 roof-top tent in 2004. By around 2013 the tent required some maintenance & repairs and I brought it to their factory for a service. At that time they decided that the floor board needed to be replaced. I was never advised that the entire peripheral aluminium strip would be replaced and the diameter of the holes supporting the window flap poles woudl be reduced to 6mm from 8mm.
This change in hole diameter quickly became evident on our next camping trip when we were unable to insert any of our existing poles in those openings.
In early March 2017 I brought this issue up with Ryan. He told me that if I brought my old poles in he would try to replace them with smaller diameter poles.
Today Tuesday 14th March, I again drove to the Eezi-Awn factory and brought the old poles as requested only to be told that they couldn't in fact replace them and that I had two choices;
- bring my whole tent back to the factory where they would return the holes to their original diameter or,
- I could purchase a new set of poles with the smaller diameter for R 700 plus.

I pointed out that this problem was not of my doing, since I never requested the smaller diameter holes in the first place, and had followed their instructions by bringing in the old poles for exchange. Because the blame for this problem was at best shared, I proposed that they offer me a new set of replacement poles at 50% of the cost. That is when the managerJack, decided to rudely brush off my proposal before turning his back and walking out of the room.

This problem was created by Eezi-Awn, and I was never informed of the change in diameter. I feel it is their responsibilty to replace the poles as they originally offered. Now they are black-mailing me into purchasing a whole set of new poles. Their product is good quality but the manner in which their senior managers summarily brushed off my compromise solution was both rude and unprofessional. I woudl never recommend them to another potential customer.

I will let Hello Peter members decide what they think.
