Lack of academic integrity
In any Eduvos commerce / arts degree, you will be loaded with group assignments from the start. My guess is that it's due to a lack of resources to mark individual assignments.
The younger students, fresh from high school only rely on AI, and trust me, you will not be able to convince them of doing their own work. This means you either accept a zero for plagiarism or you have to carry those students on your back every single time. Remember this is for a 4-8 student assignment, so the workload is heavy.
Secondly, you can't choose to form your own group of students to work with, you consistently get a bunch of borderline *********** students that can only copy/paste from the internet or ChatGPT grouped with you. My guess is that Eduvos wants to pair "A" grade students with students that sc**** through to help diversify the experience.
Each group assignment counts 20% towards a module's overall mark. This is a massive weighting towards your overall average and can determine obtaining a distinction on its own, and there is literally a group assignment for every other module.
I fully detest having to rely on the work of others for my marks. This is not academic integrity and can only be described as a joke!!
My suggestions: - Modify the assignments so that students can either choose to do the assignment individually or in a group of their choice. - Or train student advisers to mark assignments so that you have more capacity to release individual assignments to each student.
I am also writing this on behalf of numerous other students that I have worked with in group assignments during the past.
