A unbelievable **** to cautionother people

I am writing this review in the hope that other consumers/clients are aware of a possible **** of which I fell victim to.

The audio clip (recording) herewith attached provide the detail for you or your team to analyse.

Here follow a summary of the contents of the alleged ****:

1. The agent, phoning on behalf of Auto Page (who no longer exists) mentions that they are offering a service called SDRIVE

2. She asks what type of vehicle I drive, of which I do not see the relevance

3. She explains that my car can be used as a shuttle drive and then something about a mechanic (here there is a brief break in communication)

4. She then offered to send me an e-mail with the information

5. I indicated that she can send me the e-mail so that I can have a look at it. (this is always my way to get the agents off my back)
To confirm, I never received the e-mail

6. She also mentions that it is not a contract or an insurance policy and if I opt to use the service, I can try it out and opt out at any time I want.

7. She then ask again for my e-mail address,

8. Requested the four middle digits of my ID and again the description of my vehicle.

9. At the end of the conversation, she greeted sincerely (God Bless) and mention in a low tone “Welcome to SDRIVE”

After realising for some time (after October 2016), that an amount of R29.00 was deducted from my bank account by debit order, I decided to contact the bank to find out who the beneficiary is. I was given the name of the company, i.e. EC3 and the contact number was 031 ********** . I went to the bank and stopped the debit order which I did not gave permission for them to deduct neither did I sign anything.

After calling the number I spoke to a Miss Ismail who sent me the audio clip of the conversation that took place in 2015.

According to the information, the service was part of my cell phone contract with Auto Page and I gave permission for the service and for money to be deducted.

The payment deducted came from my cell phone account and not directly from my back account, that is why I never picked it up.

Only after the contract was coming to an end and Auto Page no longer existed, they deducted an amount of R29.00 directly from my ABSA bank account.

I received a call yesterday (04 July), where the same lady enquired about payment not received.

I told her with much annoyance that I never agreed to the service according to the audio clip.

She insisted that I gave permission and this is because I never said that I am not interested. I also gave my e-mail address, my details of my ID and the description of my car.

For her, this is enough proof that I opted to be interested and that I agreed to the service.

What made my hot under the collar, was the fact that she said that one does not gave information like e-mail address, description of your car and the middle digits of your ID to anybody on a phone call. Here she actually says that this indeed was a way to catch people out …

She further insisted that I had to honour my contract, this after the recording mention specifically that it is not a contract or an insurance policy (and that I can opt out at any time)

Furthermore, they are going to keep me liable by letting the funds (deductions) accumulate and then be sent to their legal department for further action.

In find this to be a well calculated **** that unfortunately took place two years ago.

Here is the link to their website for what it’s worth: http://www.ec3.co.za/

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further information.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Patrick

082 **********
